History of Badminton

This game became a success at this party held in Gloucestershire, which was the ancestral home of the duke. It has now become the core of International Badminton federations. After that, the game becomes famous by the name of badminton.
Initial development of badminton sport:
As we know, it was initiated just for relaxation, but organizations specified its principles in 1873. These were the first official set of rules for this sport in the history of badminton. These rules were not the same as they are in the present era. The rules of this age are called modern rules. From where were these current rules initiated in the history of badminton?
- When there was a disagreement between India and British over the difference in badminton rules, a badminton bath club was established in 1877. Its purpose was rules determination for this game.

- Sir George A. Thomas. Baronet awarded the first trophy and started this idea of awarding trophies. This first trophy was known as Thomas Cup(1939) under the name of sir George A. Thomas. Women’s trophies(1956) were known as the “Uber Cup” under the name of Mrs. H.S.Uber.
- World War Il has a tremendous effect on badminton’s development. The development almost stopped for some time because of a shortage of material. The tournaments were supposed to delay, and the first badminton season occurred in 1948. Similarly, in the women’s season of matches, there was a delay till 1956 because of War disasters.
- 1977 was the year of the official Badminton World Championships, held under the supervision of the Badminton World Federation.
Appearance at Olympic Games:
A sport appears as a demonstration game first to become an Olympics Game. A sport presented just as a trial or for promotion is known as a demonstration sport. Badminton first appeared as a demonstration sport in 1972, but still, it was not part of the full medal competition. Then its appearance as an exhibition sport occurred in 1983. It is the point in badminton history when it becomes a world-famous sport. In 1992, badminton became a part of the Olympics and was a standard medal game. Both singles(one vs one) and doubles(two vs two players) were played till that time, but mixed doubles were introduced in 1996 in the Olympic game.

“Asian Sport” is a name by which the world knows badminton sport. The dominance of Asian countries in world tournaments and championships is the reason behind this name. Denmark is in the second position after England. Denmark has produced the strongest players in badminton. Not only Denmark but China also played a significant role in this sport. It has won many World badminton championships in its history. All five World Champions was the title awarded to China in 2010 and 2011. So, on an international platform, Asia has been successful and dominant in badminton history.
